A somewhat difficult journey of my life: Living with VWD
I am Tariq Hussain Memon
a resident of Reeti, a small village in Ghotki District, Sindh Province, Pakistan.
16 years old Since I was just six months old, I have been living with type Von Willebrand Disease (VWD). But the sad thing was that there was no treatment center near us but when I was little my family was not aware of my disease.
My gums used to bleed a lot but my parents always encouraged me to be independent and flexible instead of being too protective.
The family felt the weight of this condition a lot.
My family tried their best to take me to the doctors but some doctors were not aware of this disease either. Eventually I kept this disease as a friend because it had become so pure that it would not leave me anymore.. After a long time
At the age of 13 I found a friend who asked me about my disease and then through social media he reached the WFH badge and he helped me a lot.
Neither I nor my family knew anything about the Hemophilia Society. My friend Kailash Kumar told me not to go to the Karachi Hemophilia Society. I went for a while. During that time, I could not get into the Hemophilia Society. Then Kailash told me, “You are not a member of the society.” Then I went to the society. Then they admitted me to the society. After a long time, my health deteriorated again. Then Kailash told me to go to the society. Then I turned to the society. But I did not trust the society at first. I went on Kailash’s advice. There I got good treatment. Only because of my friend Kailash Kumar, everything became possible.
Kailash’s friend Shivam Verma, who advised Kailash, who is in charge of the Hemophilia Society in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, helped us a lot.
We cannot take even a single day’s work away from Shivam Bhai. Shivam Verma Bhai is a person of the best nature. He has sympathy for every person. Shivam Verma.
My friend Kailash played a significant role in overcoming major obstacles
Especially heavy menstrual bleeding. There were many moments that I couldn’t celebrate – be it a wedding, an Eid, or even my exams – because of my health. While I often felt down, my friend encouraged me and I was able to overcome these challenges through his incredible support system.
So, shaping my future
I didn’t let my health dictate my aspirations:
Education: I cleared my 10th.
Alhamdulillah, I am living a very happy life. Although I still face health issues often, I overcome them with the help of my family and my dear friend Kailash Kumar. My message to you
I believe that difficulties are there to help us discover our hidden potential. My faith and the support of the Hemophilia Society have taught me to rise above my illness. My advice is simple: live life one day at a time and make the most of every moment.
“Keep your fears to yourself, but share your courage with others”
